Bobby Rush Boulevard is officially open in Jackson.A street sign was unveiled Wednesday for the Mississippi blues artist. Ellis Avenue from Interstate 20 to Capitol Street is now Bobby Rush Boulevard. The section of Ellis was renamed with the support of the Jackson mayor and city council.It’s especially significant to Rush, as this is his neighborhood and the community he has lived in for years. “I’m as happy as a man can be. This is my heaven. I’m so thankful to be around long enough to see a few of the things happen in my lifetime,” Rush said. “The blues is what I do. It’s what I live. It’s what I sing. It’s what I live for. It’s the mother of all music. If you don’t like the blues, you probably don’t like your mama.”The three-time Grammy Award-winner said he’s extremely thankful to all those who have supported him throughout the years.
