I've got some exciting news to share before the word gets out! Recently, I made a significant decision and took a leap of faith, spreading my wings in the process. I've accepted a teaching position at the Forman School as a Thinking and Writing Teacher for the upcoming school year, 24-25. Departing from RSU 21 wasn't a decision I took lightly; I knew if I were to leave, it had to be the right move. What drew me to Forman was the clarity of their mission: Empowering Students who Learn Differently. As I embark on my Ph.D. journey, I feel empowered to explore new horizons. After a year of feeling somewhat adrift, I'm truly embracing this opportunity to rediscover myself. A crucial part of that journey is aligning oneself with the mission of what you're doing—it propels us forward. I'll continue to share my journey, and for any friends seeking teaching roles, RSU 21 is an excellent place to look. To those in special education, I highly recommend considering employment in one of Maine's premier school districts. The leadership is innovative and student-focused. I'm deeply grateful for every opportunity I've been given. My pup and I are eagerly anticipating the next chapter of our lives.

Seeking scholarly input: Can anyone offer guidance on overcoming a depletion of research "search terms" within the context of a research study? I am presently engaged in a project investigating the Registered Apprentice Program's correlation with the shortage of special education teachers. Initially, my search yielded only three relevant articles. However, upon delving into the references cited in these articles, I discovered that the majority of them were over 15 years old.

I hope this message finds you well. This semester, alongside my coursework at USM, I am serving as a graduate assistant. Currently, my primary task involves crafting a literature review for our ongoing study, which focuses on the Registered Apprenticeship Program at the University of Southern Maine. As part of this endeavor, I am actively seeking leads and contacts to aid me in navigating online databases. Some of the search terms I'm utilizing include: Registered Apprenticeship Teaching, Teacher; Registered Apprenticeship special education; Registered Apprenticeship Elementary Education; Registered Apprenticeship Secondary Education; Registered Apprenticeship Teaching education preparation programs; Registered Apprenticeship Teacher certification; Grow Your Own teacher programs.

Reflecting: This young boy, pictured below, was a student identified with a specific learning disability throughout his academic journey from K-12. He's flashing a thumbs-up because he just completed another course with the USM educational leadership program. Once again, I'm delighted with the quality of education I've received there. Now, I'm eager to immerse myself in my research course for the next 8 weeks. Hopefully, this will pave the way for my next academic pursuit—I've applied for an Ed.D/Ph.D program. Fingers crossed. As I push ahead, absorb knowledge, and engage in discussions, I'm deeply intrigued by the study of leadership styles and the contrasting impacts of instructional versus transformational leadership. It's truly a testament to the notion that anything is possible and there are no barriers.

The day I committed to becoming a teacher, particularly in special education, remains vivid in my memory. It was during sophom*ore year in 2010 when our English class screened Dead Poets Society. Even now, many years later, I hold onto hope that the movie's ideals continue to ignite inspiration in young hearts, urging them to discover their passions and unite their voices. It's a narrative about pursuing one's passion and embracing individuality. While establishing norms in my classroom, I realized that my unique identity was shared with my students; I too was once a student with specific learning differences (SLD).
